He was met at the Cathedral`s great west doors by the acting dean, Canon Anthony Hawley.
The hour-long thanksgiving service to mark Liverpools 800th Birthday consisted of hymns, readings and prayers.
As well as the Bishop of Liverpool the Rt Rev James Jones, the service was attended by the dean of Liverpools Metropolitan Cathedral, Canon Anthony O`Brien, and the Bishop of Warrington, the Rt Rev David Jennings.
At the end of the service, the Prince left by the Great West doors to be taken back to Lime Street Station.
